EV Policies:

WA adopted an exemption on the sales/use tax for sales and leases of clean alternative fuel vehicles, EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The maximum exemption for new vehicles are: $25,000 in 2019-2021; $20,000 in 2021-2023; and $15,000 in 2023-2025. The exemption applies to new or used passenger cars, light duty trucks, or medium duty passenger vehicles that meet one of the following criteria: Exclusively powered by a clean alternative fuel, and plug-in hybrid vehicle that can travel at least 30 miles on battery power alone. WA adopted CA’s ZEV and LEV standards. WA Dept. of Transportation offers grants to expand the West Coast Electric Highway network by deploying Level 2 and DC fast chargers and hydrogen fueling infrastructure along highway corridors in WA.
