Net Metering:

AB’s Micro-generation Regulation under the Electric Utilities Act establishes net metering rules for customer generators of renewable or alternative energy sources. Small micro-generators (under 150 kW) receive a credit for excess electricity sent to the grid on a monthly basis at retail rates. Small micro-generators may also install a suitable meter to receive credit for excess electricity at hourly wholesale market prices. Large micro-generators (150 KW and above) are credited for electricity sent to the grid at the hourly wholesale market price.
