The National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) is a model code that only comes into force when provinces and territories elect to enact and enforce laws and regulations to that code. They may choose to adopt the code as is or make minor changes to adapt to regional needs. AB is one of 4 provinces that has adopted the 2017 NECB

Appliance Standards:

Canada’s federal government established energy efficiency appliance standards including the following categories: household appliances, commercial refrigeration equipment, heating and cooling systems, lighting products, and water heaters. AB does not have additional provincial appliance standards.
