The Western Interstate Energy Board announces the availability of a new policy paper. The paper, entitled Distributed Energy Resource Interconnection Timelines and Advanced Inverter Deployment, is timely given the ever-increasing cumulative nameplate capacity of distributed energy resources in the Western Interconnection. The paper covers interconnection timelines, national standards for interconnection, Smart Inverter Working Group input into CPUC Rule 21 in California, and technical capabilities of advanced (so-called smart) inverters. It also includes policy recommendations for states of the Western Interconnection.
