The Western Interstate Energy Board (WIEB) and the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) announced the Western Outreach Project in collaboration with California’s Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative 2.0 (RETI 2.0). This Outreach project solicited input from stakeholders across the Western Interconnection regarding renewable energy and transmission options that could contribute to meeting California’s energy and greenhouse gas objectives by 2030 (at least 50% RPS, 40% GHG reduction). The project featured two in-person workshops: (1) Northwest-focused in Portland on August 12; (2) Southwest-focused in Las Vegas on September 1, 2016.
Agendas for the two workshops were developed. Diverse stakeholders were invited to participate on panels at these workshops. Participation came from western states, resource developers, transmission projects, transmission planners, environmental and land use advocates, and other interested parties.
