This was the final webinar for the Idaho-WIEB Western Multi-state Energy Planning Project. It included an overview of the Roadmap for Policy Makers and a deeper dive into strategies for addressing the challenges of integrating variable resources onto the electricity grid. Questions that were addressed included:
- What strategies can be employed to improve integration of variable resources?
- What can we learn from a recent study on the exploration of the relationship between transmission expansion and wind curtailment?
- How can policy makers, regulators and utilities compare the relative benefits of different options and translate this into investment strategies?
- How can frequency response be maintained with less synchronous traditional resources on the system?
