Energy Storage:

In 2019, the Montana Public Service Commission (PSC) issued an order allowing storage to be combined with a net metering system provided: 

1. the storage device does not charge from the distribution system;
2. the net metering system does not exceed 50 kW;
3. the net metering system is on the customer-generator’s premises;
4. the storage device operates in parallel with the utility’s distribution system; and 
5. the net metering system is intended to offset use by the customer-generator.
