Energy Efficiency in RPS:

In 2005, NV allowed utilities to use energy efficiency resources to meet up to 25% of RPS targets. Revisions to the RPS in 2013 and 2019 reduced the energy efficiency ceiling to RPS targets. By 2025, energy efficiency cannot be used to meet RPS targets.

Building Codes:

NV statute requires the Director of the Governor’s Energy office to adopt the most recent version of the IECC. Local jurisdictions must adopt the code individually. Local jurisdictions could adopt more restrictive measures, but not less restrictive measures.

Appliance Standards:

In 2007, NV adopted energy efficiency requirements for incandescent lamps. This standard was exempt from federal preemption because it came before and was more stringent than the federal requirement. In 2019, legislation (AB 54) adopted new energy and water appliance standards for 12 appliances not preempted by federal appliance standards.
