On June 1-2, 2022, the Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM) Body of State Regulars (BOSR) and the California ISO hosted a Western Electricity Markets Training workshop at the WECC offices in Salt Lake City, Utah. This two-day workshop combined an introductory training on the ISO’s energy market services (i.e., the ISO’s Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM), current Day-Ahead Market, and proposed Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM)), a presentation from the ISO Department of Market Monitoring, and a hands-on game-based market simulation training facilitated by professors from Stanford University. Participants in the market simulation training worked in teams and performed the roles of electric generating companies, load serving entities, and vertically-integrated utilities.
