Western Wind and Solar Integration Study Phase 3A Webinar

WIRAB/CREPC/SPSC webinar on the Western Wind and Solar Integration Study Phase 3A: Low Levels of Synchronous Generation (WWSIS-3A) on December 17. The Phase 3A study examines the impact of low levels of synchronous generation on the transient stability performance in one part of the Western Interconnection in which wind generation has displaced synchronous thermal generation under highly stressed, weak system conditions. This work focuses on “traditional” fundamental frequency stability issues, such as maintaining synchronism, frequency, and voltage. This study was produced by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) with technical support from GE Energy Management and sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
