Clean Energy Targets:

The Alberta Climate Leadership Plan established a policy target in 2015 to eliminate coal-fired generation by 2030. Alberta met this goal in 2024, well ahead of the target. In 2018, Alberta adopted a legislative target for 30% renewable electricity by 2030 (Renewable Electricity Act, 2018) with interim renewable targets of 15% by 2022; 20% by 2025; 26% by 2028 (Ministerial Order, 2019).
