Clean Energy Targets:

The CleanBC Roadmap to 2030 (2021) commits BC to power all new buildings and accelerate electrification of transportation and industry with predominantly clean hydroelectric resources. BC Hydro’s first competitive call for power in 15 years, launched April 3, 2024, targeted approximately 3,000 GWh per year of new clean energy and resulted in December 2024 in 30-year electricity purchase agreements with ten wind and solar projects representing approximately 5,000 GWh per year. The 2025 Call for Power, launched in July 2025, added four wind project awards announced in May 2026 totaling approximately 3,500 GWh per year. Combined, the two calls will add approximately 8,500 GWh per year of clean and renewable electricity to BC Hydro’s system by 2033.
