EV Policies:

The Zero-Emission Vehicles Act (2019) made BC the first jurisdiction to legislate a 100% ZEV light duty vehicle sales target by 2035. In April 2026, the Province announced amendments reducing the 2035 target to 75% and removing the prohibition on the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles, aligning with federal policy revisions. The 26% ZEV sales requirement for model years 2026 and 2027 is retained; targets for 2028 through 2030 will be informed by federal direction expected in 2026. BC’s consumer purchase incentive program (CleanBC Go Electric Passenger Vehicle Rebate) was wound down in May 2025; public charging incentives continue.
