Energy Storage:
Utah has no statewide energy storage target. Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart Battery Program offers incentives of $400 per kW for residential battery storage paired with solar, dispatched as a demand response resource. SB 224 (2024) establishes a presumption that the ongoing operating costs of proven dispatchable generation resources located in the state are reasonable for utility cost recovery, allows recovery of associated legal costs, and authorizes the creation of a Utah Fire Fund to supplement insurance against wildfire damages.
